Corinthians will miss out on up to R$1.56 million in prize money after a 1-0 defeat by Ferroviária ended their Copa do Brasil campaign.

The round-of-16 tie was played at Fonte Luminosa on Monday night and marked the first cup elimination under head coach Emily Lima. According to Meu Timao, the club had already banked R$180,000 from the competition.

That sum comprised R$80,000 for beating Palmeiras 1-0 in the third phase and the amount due for reaching the last 16. The remaining potential earnings across later rounds are now unattainable.

Quarter-final progress would have been worth a further R$120,000, with another R$140,000 for reaching the semi-finals and R$200,000 for contesting the final. The champions’ bonus was set at R$1.1 million, with R$550,000 for runners-up.

Attention now turns to the rest of the calendar. Corinthians lead the Campeonato Brasileiro after 12 rounds and sit second in the Campeonato Paulista, currently in the fourth round of its classification phase. They will also compete in the Copa Libertadores in Ecuador in October.
