A busy Monday for Corinthians began with the CBF saying in a statement it had clarified Carrascal’s red card and the second goal in the Supercopa do Brasil win over Flamengo.
Sunday’s Supercopa triumph delivered historic free-to-air TV audience figures. It also ended a winless run at Mané Garrincha and saw one player join four others to have scored in three different finals for the club.
A defender said Corinthians must enter every competition targeting titles, while Gabriel highlighted the strength of Dorival Júnior’s squad. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza expressed his affection for the club after lifting the Supercopa and dedicated the success to the supporters.
The Brasileirão round-two fixture with Athletico Paranaense is now set for 19 February, a Thursday, having been moved from 18 February. On Monday evening, the club’s theatre hosted the ninth public hearing on Statute reform, focused on board and finance changes. The Justice Commission has stepped up its probe into missing kit at CT Joaquim Grava, with two new hearings set for Tuesday.
The women’s side finished runners-up at the FIFA Copa das Campeãs after a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal, banking US$ one million, around R$ five point three million. Even with the loss, their finals record since the 2016 relaunch dipped only slightly.
