Corinthians open training: key returns, first-choice keeper out

On the morning of this Tuesday, the 21st, Corinthians opened part of their training to the press at the Dr. Joaquim Grava Training Center. Under the command of Dorival Júnior and his coaching staff, the squad participated in intense activities on a reduced field, focusing on duels and confrontation situations. The main news was the return of André Carrillo and André Ramalho, who, after recovering from injuries, returned to train normally with the group.

The session also included the presence of young players from the youth academy and two absences due to physical reasons: midfielder André Luiz, who is treating a ligament injury in his ankle, and goalkeeper Hugo Souza, recovering from a shoulder problem. Both remained inside the training center facilities for treatment.

Among the good news for Dorival, besides Carrillo and Ramalho, the Ecuadorian defender Félix Torres was also on the field, rejoining the squad after his time with his national team. José Martínez, who had been absent recently, participated normally in the activities. In goal, with Hugo Souza out, the training included Felipe Longo, Kauê, and Matheus Donelli.

The young players Thomas Lisboa, Gui Amorim, and Matheus Corrêa from the under-20 team were also called to participate in the training. The first part of the session prioritized individual duels and short games, where the athletes faced off in one-on-one duels, focusing on decision-making and efficiency in finishing.

Following that, the coaching staff organized a tactical exercise on a reduced field, with four players wearing bibs facing three without bibs, alternating offensive and defensive roles. When the bib-wearing players attacked, the play was initiated by one of Dorival's assistants; the team without bibs started with a ball repositioning by the opposing goalkeeper.

In the final part, a high-intensity scrimmage was held, similar to a training match, prioritizing offensive movements, quick recovery, and constant position changes. The team without bibs included: Matheuzinho, Ramalho, Cacá, Angileri, Raniele, Carrillo, Kayke, Bidon, Yuri Alberto, and Talles. The team with bibs was formed by Félix Torres, Tchoca, Hugo, Ryan, Charles, Garro, Bidu, Memphis, Maycon, Gui Negão, and Dieguinho.

During the activity, Dorival tested tactical variations: Torres was improvised on the right flank, Ryan was moved to the left side, and Bidu played further forward as a winger. These changes, however, do not indicate a starting lineup, but rather adjustments in movement and transition. Thomas Lisboa, Bahia, and Amorim did not participate in this stage of the training.

The press was able to follow the work for about 40 minutes. The main news suggests that André Ramalho, Carrillo, and José Martínez should be included for the match against Vitória on Saturday, although they are likely to start on the bench.

The right-back position remains open, and Dorival is still analyzing the available options: Jacaré, Hugo Farias, Charles, and even Félix Torres, who has played the role on other occasions. As for Hugo Souza, there is still no confirmation about his presence in the next game — the goalkeeper is still in treatment, but there is optimism within the club that he can recover in time.

Corinthians will continue their preparation at the Dr. Joaquim Grava Training Center throughout the week, aiming for the match against Vitória, valid for the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship.
