Corinthians have parted company with mental performance coach Lulinha Tavares. He said in a post on Monday afternoon that the club’s financial situation prevented the continuation of his work.

Tavares joined in early 2025 as mental coach for the first team, hired at the request of then head coach Ramón Díaz during the presidency of Augusto Melo and under executive Fabinho Soldado.

He described his spell as part of a pioneering effort to train the brain, accelerate decisions and sustain performance under pressure, using advanced neurotechnology integrated with the club’s multidisciplinary staff.

Among his initiatives was a cognitive training room at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, aimed at reaction time and self-control. Sessions used virtual reality goggles and interactive screens, and were optional for players.

Following the early April dismissal of coach Dorival Júnior, the club also released football manager and scout Renan Bloise. Former goalkeeper Julio Cesar has since taken the manager role.

Corinthians’ February 2026 accounts reported total debt of R$ 2.8 billion and a loss of almost R$ 100 million across the year’s first two months. During Tavares’s tenure the team played 103 matches, winning 57 with 28 draws and 28 defeats, and lifted the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil plus the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil.
