Corinthians plan early May debuts for new kits | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Corinthians plan to unveil their new kits in early May, against Independiente Santa Fé in the Conmebol Libertadores and São Paulo in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The team are likely to wear the second kit in Bogotá on six May against Santa Fé. The main shirt should debut at the Majestoso on 10 May at Neo Química Arena, a fixture scheduled for the 15th round of the Brasileirão.

The collection will mark 50 years of the Invasão Corintiana, when about 70 thousand fans travelled to Rio de Janeiro for the 1976 Campeonato Brasileiro semi-final with Fluminense.

Corinthians had initially targeted one April, in the ninth round, to launch the new shirt against Fluminense. The club viewed that date as ideal, matching the opponent and venue of the 1976 semi-final.

Nike did not have the collection ready for that window. The American company follows the European calendar and typically delivers pieces in May.

The primary kit will feature a white shirt with small black details and the 1976 crest. The second shirt will restore the traditional black and white stripes.

In 1976, Corinthians beat Fluminense on penalties, then finished runners-up after losing to Internacional in the final.
