Corinthians are preparing a special unveiling for 33-year-old Jesse Lingard at Neo Química Arena, with bespoke in-stadium activations. According to TV Gazeta, the internal big screen will carry his image in the black-and-white shirt alongside the message "Welcome to the favela".
A welcome video is also planned, and Meu Timao understands the midfielder will don number 77, a shirt made iconic by the 1977 Paulista triumph that ended a near 23-year wait.
Lingard landed in São Paulo on Sunday morning and had medical tests scheduled for Monday. He has been without a club since leaving FC Seoul in December after featuring across the last two seasons.
An academy graduate at Manchester United, he can operate centrally or off the flanks. For United he made 235 appearances, scored 35 goals and supplied 21 assists, winning the Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield. He has 32 England caps and played at the 2018 World Cup.
After early-career loans, his longest run came for United between 2015 and 2020. He signed permanently for Nottingham Forest in 2022, then joined FC Seoul in February 2024, registering 19 goals and 10 assists in 66 matches.
Corinthians have already added defender Gabriel Paulista, right-back Pedro Milans, midfielders Matheus Pereira, Allan and Zakaria Labyad, plus forward Kaio César. The club have also confirmed the return of left-back Fabrizio Angileri.
