Leaders of Gaviões da Fiel confronted Corinthians players outside CT Joaquim Grava on Monday, a day after the 1-0 defeat to Internacional and the dismissal of Dorival Júnior. According to Meu Timao, the group waited by the exit to demand explanations.
Midfielder Raniele and forward Vitinho were the first to leave in their cars, and were met with insults from about 10 supporters who alleged the squad had tried to topple the former coach. The morning session was led by under-20 boss William Batista.
Forward Kaio César then passed through the main gate. Recovering from peripheral fibrotic inflammation in his right hamstring, he was pressed on when he would return to action, and midfielder Charles was also confronted. The group asked the No 37 why he was not playing and when he would feature.
The organised group had already visited the training ground on Thursday morning, hours after the defeat to Fluminense at the Maracanã in the national competition. They spoke with Dorival and the squad on the pitch in a heated tone. Corinthians are nine games without a win this season and have slipped to 16th in the Brasileirão.
Protests continued after the latest reverse at Neo Química Arena, with chants aimed at the players at full-time, then further criticism in the car park. With Dorival’s departure, the club moved quickly and reached a verbal agreement with Fernando Diniz, who has been out of work since February after leaving Vasco da Gama.
He is expected to sign a contract running to the end of 2026. Corinthians now race to finalise the appointment before Thursday’s 21:00 kick-off at Platense in Buenos Aires, their Libertadores group-stage opener.
