Before the World Cup begins, Corinthians players joined a light-hearted draw at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava to predict winners, surprise packages and disappointments.

According to Meu Timao, Yuri Alberto, Matheus Bidu, Dieguinho, Hugo Souza, Breno Bidon and Raniele each pulled three slips from a backpack containing the 48 qualified nations, one for each category.

For disappointment, Bidu drew Egypt, Dieguinho Austria, Hugo Souza Cape Verde, Breno Bidon Scotland, Yuri Alberto Sweden and Raniele the United States.

As surprise picks, Bidu landed South Africa, Raniele Australia, Dieguinho Ecuador, Hugo Souza New Zealand, Breno Bidon Canada and Yuri Alberto the Czech Republic.

Their prospective champions were Croatia for Raniele, Morocco for Bidu, Ecuador for Hugo Souza, Tunisia for Dieguinho, Ivory Coast for Breno Bidon and New Zealand for Yuri Alberto.

The World Cup opens on Thursday 11 with Group A fixtures Mexico v South Africa and South Korea v Czech Republic. Brazil, in Group C, debut on Saturday 13 against Morocco at 19:00 Brasília time.

Only one Corinthians player will be at the tournament, with Memphis Depay representing the Netherlands in Group F and opening on Sunday 14 at 17:00 against Japan.
