Corinthians see lowest crowd at Arena for the first time in over two years

On the night of last Thursday (12), Corinthians hosted Red Bull Bragantino at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the third round of the Brazilian Championship, and triumphed with a score of 2 x 0. The goals for the Alvinegro were scored by defender Gabriel Paulista and left-back Matheus Bidu. The result left the team in 12th place with three points from two games.

Despite the victory, the match was also marked by recording the lowest attendance for the Alvinegro in Itaquera for the first time since June 28, 2023. Against Massa Bruta, there were 26,700 fans present, while on the aforementioned date, 26,541 attended Corinthians' 3 x 0 win over Liverpool-URU, in the last round of the group stage of the 2023 Conmebol Libertadores. Matheus Araújo, Felipe Augusto, and Adson scored the goals for Timão on that occasion.

Since then, another 98 matches have been played in Itaquera, and in only two of them was the attendance below 30,000 fans: in February 2026, in the Alvinegro's 3 x 0 win over Capivariano in the Paulistão, the attendance was 28,600. Meanwhile, in November 2023, 29,612 fans attended Itaquera for the 1 x 0 win over Athletico-PR in the second round of that year's Brasileirão.

In five Corinthians home matches in the 2026 season so far, the average attendance is 36,543 fans. Now, Corinthians will once again focus on the Campeonato Paulista. Next Sunday (15), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will visit São Bernardo FC at Estádio Primeiro de Maio, ABC Paulista, for the eighth and final round of the first phase of the Paulistão.
