Corinthians have settled the women’s squad’s June image rights, 22 days after the deadline. According to Meu Timao, the payment was completed on Tuesday afternoon, having been due on 15 June.
In May, image-rights payments were also delayed and only cleared on 29 May, two weeks late and a day before the Palmeiras tie in the Women’s Copa do Brasil for a last-16 place.
Despite this week’s settlement, other obligations to the women’s group remain outstanding, including bonuses from recent successes. The Women’s Libertadores prize was set to be paid in 12 instalments, and sums are still pending.
There is also a due bonus from the Copa das Campeãs. The agreement allocates 80% of the amount received for the runners-up campaign to players, coaching staff and staff. The club received R$ 5.3 million for the competition.
Separately, the club brought forward CLT-registered salaries last Friday, which are normally paid by the fifth working day of each month.
Corinthians’ finances remain strained, with gross debt around R$ 2.7 billion and an accumulated deficit of R$ 168 million to April. That figure is 28% higher than the result to March and exceeds the period’s budgeted loss of R$ 72.9 million.
Amid the squeeze, a new sponsorship for the women’s teams, plus futsal and basketball, has been signed with Fatal Fans, worth R$ 22 million. The Brabas return to action on 17 July, hosting Ferroviária at 19:00 at Parque São Jorge in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista.
