Corinthians sharpen defensive shape in penultimate session before Paraná friendly | OneFootball

Corinthians honed their defensive organisation during Friday morning’s penultimate session at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Cascavel.

It was the 15th day of the mid-season training block, starting with strength work in the gym, then a pitch warm-up. The club said in a statement that the new cycle of activities covered strength, technical and tactical elements.

The staff ran an attack-versus-defence transition drill with numerical superiority for the attackers, then Fernando Diniz arranged a 10 v 10 tactical exercise with emphasis on the defensive phase.

The final workout before the trip is scheduled for Saturday morning, with travel to Paraná in the afternoon. The staff will be without Memphis Depay, who is on holiday after the World Cup with the Netherlands, and are not expected to have defender Gustavo Henrique due to hip discomfort.

Kick-off against Cascavel is on Sunday 12 at 16:00 at Olímpico Regional in Cascavel. Corinthians last played there in a 2024 friendly against Londrina, winning 3-0.

Competitive action resumes on Thursday 23 at 19:30 against Remo at Neo Química Arena, in round 19 of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
