After meetings, Corinthians decided to deactivate the intermediate U-18 category, which had been called U-20 B since mid-2025. The category had been (re)created at the beginning of the term of former president Augusto Melo, who was definitively removed from office in the first days of August.
Throughout this Monday, the 21st, the current youth department management – led by Carlos Alberto Auricchio (Nenê do Posto) – informed the technical staff responsible for the category about the decision to discontinue activities. The information was initially released by the Base Corinthiana profile and confirmed by Central do Timão.

Central do Timão learned that around 15 athletes were in the category. Some of them will have their contracts terminated or will be loaned out. Others, in turn, will be integrated into the main U-20 team. The category, which was led by coach Renato Rodrigues and assisted by Zé Augusto, managed to win the Paulista Cup in 2025 – a tournament of lower technical level. The team was also runner-up in the Copa Ouro.
As a result, the following are leaving the club at Parque São Jorge: Renato Rodrigues (coach), Gilbert (fitness coach), Daniel (goalkeeper coach), and João (performance analyst). The category had been reactivated at the beginning of 2024 after a surge in the number of athletes in the youth categories, considering U-17 and U-20, where 87 signings were made.
At the time, the youth department was led by Claudinei Alves, one of the directors from the ousted administration. Also part of the team were Valmir Costa (assistant director who later became secretary-general), Chicão and Batata, transition coordinators and coach, respectively. Still remaining in the youth department today are Alex Brasil (executive) and Claudinei Muza (secretary-general).
Since Osmar Stabile took over the presidency of Corinthians – both on an interim and definitive basis – 42 players have already left the club's youth system at Parque São Jorge. Initially, the priority was to release athletes who did not have a termination clause in their contracts, and then to amicably negotiate the termination of those who did have such clauses.
Central do Timão, exclusively, reported in August that the releases generated savings of R$ 840,000 in player salaries and R$ 123,000 with the departure of department staff. Recall by clicking here. As reported by Meu Timão and confirmed by Central do Timão, the intermediate U-16 category – led by Finazzi – continues its activities as usual.
