Corinthians dropped from fourth to seventh in the Campeonato Paulista despite not playing the sixth round. According to Meu Timao, their fixture was pushed back due to Supercopa do Brasil commitments.
They will complete the round on Thursday, the fifth, against Capivariano at 20:30, at Neo Química Arena.
Corinthians began the round on eight points. Guarani beat Ponte Preta to move to 11, Portuguesa overturned Primavera to reach nine. Mirassol drew with Novorizontino and are ahead on goal difference.
A win over Capivariano could restore fourth place. A draw would leave the club sixth. Novorizontino lead the competition on 13 points.
In this edition, the top eight advance to the knockout stage after eight rounds. The gap to Santos, 14th and first side outside the drop zone, is only two points.
Corinthians beat Velo Clube 1-0 in the previous round. They still have Palmeiras and São Bernardo to come to close the first phase.
They won the Supercopa do Brasil on Sunday, beating Flamengo 2-0 in Brasília.
