Corinthians beat Grêmio 2-0 on Friday at Estádio Francisco Novelletto, staying top of the Brasileiro Feminino after round nine with 22 points. As reported by Meu Timao, they hold a two-point lead over São Paulo.
São Paulo moved into second on 20 after a 2-1 win over Flamengo on Monday. Palmeiras drew 0-0 at Bahia on Saturday to reach 18, with Internacional fourth on 17.
Bahia are fifth on 16. Flamengo, Fluminense and Ferroviária all sit on 15 in sixth to eighth, completing the qualification places. On current standings, Corinthians would meet Ferroviária in the quarter-finals.
Red Bull Bragantino and Cruzeiro are ninth and tenth on 14. They are followed by Santos, Grêmio, Atlético-MG, Mixto, Juventude and Botafogo. América-MG and Vitória occupy the relegation places.
Only the top eight advance to the quarter-finals. Points from the regular phase continue to count through the knockouts to decide home advantage and the bracket, which increases the significance of every point.
Before their league showdown, Corinthians host São Paulo on Thursday at 21:30 at the Fazendinha in the Paulista Feminino opener. They meet again on Monday at 21:30 at the same venue in a direct duel for top spot.
