Corinthians struggle even more against Brasileirão’s bottom four

Corinthians went to Ilha do Retiro and was defeated by Sport in the 24th round of the Brasileirão. As a result, Timão saw its performance worsen against clubs that are in the relegation zone of the championship, recalling that the Pernambuco club is at the bottom of the table.

So far, 15 points have been contested against clubs that are in the Z4 in the current round: Sport, Fortaleza, Juventude, and Vitória. Of these, the People's Team secured five points, with one win and two draws. The other two matches ended in defeats, against Sport and Juventude – both away.

The matches where Corinthians did not end up defeated were at the Neo Química Arena, all in the first round of the Brasileirão. The victory was against Sport, while the draws were against Fortaleza (1 x 1) and Vitória (0 x 0). In the second round, the match against Juventude takes place in Itaquera, while the other two are away.

The People's Team is in tenth place, with 29 points contested in 24 games. The team led by Dorival Júnior was on a streak of good results, the last being a victory against Fluminense at Maracanã, but the defeat to Sport was a setback in the standings.

Now, to climb the table, Corinthians will have to face Flamengo next Sunday, September 28th. The match takes place at the Neo Química Arena, starting at 8:30 PM (Brasília time).
