On Wednesday, Corinthians submitted a permit application to São Paulo city hall for renovation and expansion works at Neo Química Arena. Plans include removing seats in the South stand to increase capacity and enlarging the East Upper section.
According to Meu Timao, the club also sent a request to the Corpo de Bombeiros last week. The works depend on clearance from the authorities, then the project will be reviewed by the Polícia Militar do Estado de São Paulo for the required security report.
All planned changes will comply with safety and accessibility standards and current legislation.
In February, the club met Gaviões da Fiel at Casa do Povo to discuss potential expansion. A proposal discussed would take the South stand from 7,406 seats to 9,083.
Another option under study adds lateral sections to the East Upper, inspired by bleachers used in the National Football League. This is projected to provide roughly a further 2,000 seats.
Corinthians are also evaluating capacity measures with international targets in mind, including the possibility of hosting the opening of the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Fifa sets several structural requirements, including a larger capacity.
If all interventions are carried out, the club expect the Neo Química Arena to exceed 50,000. The stadium currently holds 48,905.
