Corinthians fell to a 3-0 defeat at Red Bull Bragantino in Bragança Paulista on Thursday, their heaviest loss in the history of the fixture, in the second round of the Campeonato Paulista.

Meu Timao notes the historical significance of the result. The clubs have met 69 times since 1944 and Corinthians had never previously lost by a three-goal margin in this match-up.

Before this result, their biggest defeats to Bragantino were 2-0, recorded three times, most recently in 2021, and also in 2014 and 1991.

The setback was also Corinthians’ third straight reverse against Bragantino, leaving them close to the worst run in the series. The record sequence was four consecutive 1-0 losses between 2023 and 2024 in the Brasileirão and Paulistão, played mainly at Nabi Abi Chedid.

Despite the latest result, Corinthians still lead the overall head-to-head with 29 wins to Bragantino’s 19, with 21 draws. They have scored 97 and conceded 68.
