Corinthians thrash Pinda Ferroviária, lead Paulista Futsal semi-final

This Thursday (13th), Corinthians returned to the court for the São Paulo Futsal Championship. In a match valid for the first leg of the semifinals of the competition, the Alvinegro visited Ferroviária Pinda at the Tobias Salgado Gymnasium in Pindamonhangaba, achieving an impressive 7-2 victory after an exemplary second-half performance. The goals for Timão were scored by Marlon (three), Maicon, Igor Carioca, Kelvin, and Edimar.

With this result, the People's Team reinforced the advantage they already had, which guaranteed them the right to decide the state final spot at home. Now, the team plays for a draw at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, and even if they happen to lose the match in regular time, they regain the advantage of a draw in overtime.

To avoid the fatigue of the starters, who played just two days ago in the LNF, coach Fernando Malafaia sent a team to the court consisting of Kelvin, Luisinho, Caio Barros, Renatinho, and Vandinho. On the bench were Lucas Oliveira, Deives, Rick, Maicon, Luiz Brizzi, Edimar, Marlon, Papagaio, Israel, and Igor Carioca.

The match started quite balanced and tight, with the teams studying each other and few goal chances. Ferroviária was more aggressive in the opening minutes and created good opportunities, but was stopped by great saves from goalkeeper Kelvin. Corinthians was cautious and relied on defensive passing exchanges, while Ferroviária pressed high to force errors.

The home team finally opened the scoring, but the advantage was short-lived as Corinthians quickly responded and equalized with Marlon in a play on the right. After the equalizer, the match returned to being balanced in the middle of the court, with a highlight on the rotation of the Corinthians squad. In the final minutes, Timão grew and turned the game around after a mistake by the opposing goalkeeper, taking the lead into halftime.

In the second half, Corinthians returned more focused and soon extended the lead with another goal from Marlon. The team managed to control the pace of the game, exchanging passes securely, while Ferroviária struggled to react, despite scoring a goal from a set piece and pressing for an equalizer.

In the latter half, Timão knew how to manage the opponent's pressure and took advantage of the spaces left by Ferroviária, especially when the hosts adopted the fly goalkeeper, extending the score from 3-2 with four more goals, sealing the result in the São Paulo interior at 7-2, to the delight of the Fiel present in the gymnasium.
