Corinthians are in talks with São Paulo to sign 32-year-old Alisson, with discussions centring on a loan. ESPN reports that the updated plan involves a loan.
The clubs even weighed a two-season free loan, under which Corinthians would cover the player's wages until the end of his São Paulo contract.
São Paulo are requesting R$ one million for the loan plus full salary coverage. Corinthians have made clear they will not pay a fee and would only take on the wages, otherwise the deal stalls.
Even so, mutual interest has kept talks moving and a positive outcome remains likely. During negotiations, Alisson has been left out of São Paulo's recent matches.
Talks date back to the first week of January. An early proposal to include out-of-favour Corinthians players in a swap was rejected.
Alisson was trusted by Dorival Júnior at São Paulo and, converted from forward, became a versatile midfielder who helped win the 2023 Copa do Brasil.
In 2025 he lost ground in the squad and featured more often from the bench, yet he played 52 times with one goal and two assists.
Corinthians have already announced centre-back Gabriel Paulista and midfielder Matheus Pereira. The club are also progressing deals for Uruguayan right-back Pedro Milans, forward Kaio César from Al-Hilal and goalkeeper João Ricardo.
