Corinthians to have two players in Brazil Under-16 training sessions

Corinthians will have two athletes called up for the next stage of training with the Brazil U-16 National Team. Goalkeeper Matheus Rodrigues Alemão and midfielder Léo Rodrigues were selected by coach Guilherme Dalla Déa to join the category’s activities.

In total, 26 players were selected by the coaching staff, distributed among three goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards. The group will be based at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ), from January 19 to 28, according to the schedule released by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

According to the organization, the training period is part of the planning by the youth national teams department, focusing on the technical and tactical development of the athletes with an eye on future international competitions.

Matheus Alemão and Léo Rodrigues play for Corinthians’ U-15 team and are starters. The goalkeeper, born in 2010, took part in 25 matches in the Paulista Championship for the category. The midfielder, of the same age, played 15 games last season, scoring six goals.

Léo Rodrigues, in fact, already has a recent history with the Brazilian National Team. The player was part of the squad that won the South American U-15 Championship, a competition in which he was a starter throughout the campaign. On that occasion, midfielder Lucas Lopes was also called up, but he does not appear on the current list.
