Corinthians, fresh from a Supercopa Rei win over Flamengo in Brasília, are expected to rest regulars against Capivariano on Thursday to field full strength for Sunday’s derby with Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena.
According to Globo.com, the staff are prioritising the derby and early-season injury prevention, with heavily used players such as Matheuzinho, Matheus Bidu, Breno Bidon and Gustavo Henrique already beyond 500 minutes in 2026.
The most fatigued squad members will receive extra attention from the medical department in the coming days, and their ball-work could be reduced after individual assessments. In practice, Corinthians will use an alternative line-up against Capivariano in Itaquera.
The rotation opens opportunities for Kayke, Dieguinho, Hugo and Cacá to stake a claim. The club remains active in the market for reinforcements and does not rule out sales to bring in more competitive options.
After the Capivariano game, the starting line-up is due back on Sunday. The derby is the penultimate fixture of the classification phase, and a win could secure a quarter-final place depending on earlier results. Corinthians have drawn with São Paulo and Santos in the Paulistão, and beat Flamengo on Sunday to lift the Supercopa Rei.
