Corinthians 'to seek' loan for Vini from Wolfsburg | OneFootball

Corinthians are targeting former Flamengo midfielder Vini Souza of Wolfsburg as they look to bolster midfield options for 2026. Dorival Junior has requested the player and the club have made a loan enquiry.

According to GE, the 26-year-old had not planned a return to Brazil, but after losing minutes at Wolfsburg in recent weeks he is now open to the move. He remains under contract with Wolfsburg until 2030.

A Flamengo academy graduate, Vini Souza was part of Jorge Jesus’s celebrated 2019 squad that won the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão.

He left in 2020 to join Lommel in Belgium, then played for Mechelen in Belgium, Espanyol in Spain and Sheffield United in England before arriving at Wolfsburg.

While Corinthians work on Vini Souza, Flamengo are watching closely as the rivals meet in the Supercopa do Brasil on 1 February at 16:00, Brasília time, at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília.

Before then, Flamengo face Vasco on Wednesday 21 in the third round of the Carioca, with kick-off at 21:30, Brasília time, at the Maracanã.
