Corinthians train after Brasileirão win, focus on Paulistão decider

After their first victory in the Brazilian Championship over RB Bragantino at the Neo Química Arena, in the third round, Corinthians returned to training this Friday (13th) at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava and began preparations for the ‘decisive’ match in the Paulistão. Next Sunday (15th), at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), the Corinthians team will face São Bernardo FC at Primeiro de Maio, for the eighth and final round of the first phase of the Paulistão.

The players who played more than 45 minutes against Massa Bruta last night stayed inside the training center for a recovery session. The rest of the squad, meanwhile, did strength training in the gym. Afterwards, the Corinthians coaching staff organized a drill focusing on numerical superiority and finishing, as well as a small-sided game.

The team will wrap up preparations for the match against the ABC Paulista side on Saturday morning (14th). It’s worth noting that currently unavailable are: left-back Hugo Farias (knee surgery), midfielder André Luiz (ligament injury in the ankle), midfielder Breno Bidon (right hamstring injury), and forward Kaio César (muscle injury).

At the moment, Corinthians occupy fifth place in the overall Paulistão table with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and two losses – nine goals scored and six conceded) and need at least a draw to secure a spot in the state championship knockout stage. The first team outside the qualification zone, that is, below the top eight, has 10 points – Capivariano.
