Corinthians will be without Jesse Lingard for Sunday’s match at Santos, 16:00 at Vila Belmiro, as he awaits work visa clearance and final paperwork to be registered for Dorival Júnior.

According to Meu Timao, the club aim to complete the process between Tuesday and Wednesday next week, and view the timeline as on schedule. If so, Lingard could be cleared for Chapecoense on Thursday.

His first move to Brazilian football requires a CPF tax number, then a residence authorisation for work, before finalising the contract and entering his name on the CBF BID.

To face Santos, everything needed finishing by Friday, with his name on the BID by 19:00, a scenario the club have ruled out internally.

While paperwork is finalised, Lingard is undertaking intensive fitness work at the CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. He has trained well and completed a positive attacking session alongside Yuri Alberto on Thursday.

He has signed until December 2026, with an automatic extension to the end of 2027 if set targets are met.

The England international came through Manchester United’s academy and played 235 games, scoring 35 goals with 21 assists, winning the Europa League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Community Shield. He has received 32 England call-ups and was in the 2018 World Cup squad. After loans including West Ham, he joined Nottingham Forest in 2022, then signed for FC Seoul in 2024, where he featured in 66 games with 19 goals and 10 assists.
