Leeds United supporters on Fuerteventura gather in Corralejo, where a small bar hosts packed matchdays for locals and holidaymakers, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.
LUSC Fuerteventura is based in Corralejo and run by John Holliday, who moved to the island 15 years ago and set it up to bring fans together.
Leeds are among the best-represented sides in Corralejo, alongside Newcastle. The group meets at The York on Calle Juan de Austria, where around 25 seats are often outnumbered by more than 40 travelling and local fans.
Attendances have peaked at 65, notably for the Harrogate Town FA Cup tie last year. A Tottenham screening drew 64 from a fantasy football group meeting on the island, most of them Leeds. A win over Manchester United produced an atmosphere many there called incredible.
Leeds’ pre-season opens in the United States, which makes viewing tricky in Europe. Wrexham in Tampa and Sunderland in New Jersey kick off at 12.30am UK time, before Liverpool in Chicago at 8pm on Saturday August 2. Fuerteventura shares the UK time zone, both five hours ahead of the east coast.
Leeds are then expected to face RB Leipzig at Elland Road on the weekend of August 8/9, before meeting Manchester United in Dublin the following Wednesday. All friendlies will be shown at The York, though late starts in the USA may deter some. Fans check the Facebook page or drop in, with a Leeds flag up permanently and locals pointing visitors to the venue.
