Joao Felix is expected to get a rare start against Bologna on Friday night, and it could well be a last chance for him to prove his worth.
Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) begin a report by rewinding the tape to the last day of the winter transfer window, more specifically the enthusiasm and warmth with which Milan fans greeted the arrival on loan of Joao Felix.
They hoped to have signed a classy player who seemed to be a throwback to some old Rossoneri playmakers like Rui Costa and Kaka. However, despite a couple of positive early appearances, he has fallen back into the trap of inconsistency.
Having lost his place under the head coach Sergio Conceiçao – the man who pushed for him to arrive in the winter – it is expected that Felix will be goodbye at the end of the season, but not before having fired his last bullets.
Joao Felix is expected among the starters this evening in the first of the two matches against Bologna, this one being the league game at San Siro ahead of the Coppa Italia final next Wednesday in Rome.
The former Benfica man will take the place of his compatriot and friend Rafael Leao who is suspended and will watch the match from the stands. It is a last chance to show off with the Rossoneri shirt, before the expected farewell that will come at the end of the season.
It’s also an opportunity also to follow up on his recent words to Sportitalia: “I always work to be prepared, whatever the moment, whether it’s the Cup final or against the team that are last in the table.”

It doesn’t take a prophet to predict that at the end of the season Milan and Joao Felix will say goodbye. The Rossoneri signed the player on a dry loan from Chelsea, and will not call the blues to seek an option to make it permanent.
The experiment has not worked, perhaps also because Milan as a club this season have perhaps not been the best environment for a player to thrive, especially one that is looking for confidence after a difficult recent period.
Where might he end up? A recent report from Sky spoke of strong interest from Flamengo, who would like to sign him in time for the Club World Cup. But first, focus on Bologna, today and Wednesday.
