Bayern Munich host Paris Saint-Germain in Germany tonight to see who will face Arsenal in the Champions League final in what could be another thrilling game.

The first leg saw nine goals scored between two free-flowing, attacking teams with PSG having a one-goal advantage to 'defend', although hopefully defending will not be a big part of the game once again.

So how does this Champions League semi-final rank among those throughout history? And how many more goals are needed for it to break the record?

The first game in Paris means that this massive tie has already had more goals in a Champions League semi-final since its rebrand than all but four other games – and that's just after one leg.

In the Champions League era, there has been one two-legged semi-final with 10 goals (Juventus 6-4 Monaco), one with 11 (Manchester City 5-6 Real Madrid), and two currently level with the record. Both Liverpool 7-6 AS Roma and last season's semi-final, Barcelona 6-7 Internazionale, are currently the record for tonight's game to aim for.

That means should one of these teams win, let's say 3-2 in Munich, then we'll have a new record for goals in a Champions League semi-final.

Hw does that record compare with the old European Cup?

Well, there's only one semi-final to have more goals than those two 13-goals semi-finals. We'd have to go all the way back to the 1959/60 season.

Eintracht Frankfurt enjoyed a 6-1 win against Rangers in the first leg before going to then win 6-3 at the return leg in Ibrox for an emphatic 12-4 aggregate win.

Those 16 goals then are our current record for a European Cup / Champions League semi-final. We're just seven goals away from matching that this evening and if the game is as open as it was last time then we could well see that record being matched if not beaten.
