Venue: MetLife Stadium in East RutherfordNot only will BVB play their first match in the competition at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the stadium will also host the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on 13 July. The stadium is located in East Rutherford: although small in terms of population (around 10,000), this town in the state of New Jersey is hugely important in US sport: MetLife Stadium is just 12 kilometres from Manhattan and home to the famous American football teams the New York Giants and New York Jets (click here for more information about MetLife Stadium).

Weather: changeable and mildThe weather forecast for Tuesday in East Rutherford: The day is expected to start cloudy with scattered showers, with the sun peeking through the clouds briefly during the day. At kick-off time at 12 noon local time, temperatures are expected to be around 22 degrees celsius with the probability of rain between 20-40%.
Referee: Tantashev to officiateThe referee for Borussia Dortmund's opening match is Ilgiz Tantashev from Uzbekistan. The 41-year-old has been refereeing international matches for 11 years and took charge of four matches at the 2024 Olympics. He officiated the semi-final between Morocco and Spain, but had to leave the action in the 17th minute due to injury.
Live broadcast: DAZN and SAT.1The match can be watched live and free on TV via the streaming service DAZN and on SAT.1. Pre-match coverage starts at 17:30 CEST on both channels. Tobi Wahnschaffe will host the broadcast on DAZN. Sebastian Kneissl will be providing his expert analysis, while Marco Hagemann will be on commentary duty. On SAT.1 and ran.de, Wolff-Christoph Fuss will provide commentary alongside analyst Lothar Matthäus. BVB Netradio will not be broadcasting the FIFA Club World Cup, as all BVB matches will be shown on TV or streamed free of charge on DAZN. Kits: BVB in Black & YellowBorussia Dortmund will play in a shirt designed especially for the tournament, naturally in their usual colours of yellow (shirt) and black (shorts). Fluminense's shirt is dark green and red stripes. Shorts and socks are predominantly white.
