The Sky Blues are on track to secure Premier League promotion against Blackburn Rovers
Coventry City are mere moments away from securing a Premier League return for the first time since the 2000/01 campaign.
It's been a long 25 years, with the Sky Blues falling all the way down to League Two, facing hardships and difficulties surrounding the availability of the CBS Arena, going as far as to play home games at Birmingham City between 2019 and 2021.
But the last few years, since businessman Doug King purchased the club, have been nothing short of encouraging, with the Sky Blues reaching the play-off final, the FA Cup semi-final, and ultimately culminating in the success of this season, with the outright purchase of the CBS Arena in August setting down the foundations for a soon-to-be title-winning campaign.
At the helm of this promotion push is Frank Lampard, who was a somewhat controversial hire by King in November 2024, mainly due to the discourse which surrounded the dismissal of fan-favourite Mark Robins after seven and a half years in charge.
But, it's proven to be an inspired hire, with Coventry transforming from a side sitting 17th in the Championship to one now set to win the league.

With the Premier League on the horizon, there'll be expectations that Doug King will be diving into his pockets to bolster the Coventry squad ahead of what will be a challenging first campaign back in top-flight football in a quarter of a century.
When he took full control of the club from Sisu Capital Limited, it was reported that King had a net worth of over $400 million from his RMCA Capital LLP business. The likelihood is that this has increased over the last three years.
Additionally, speaking to Coventry Live, football finance expert Kieran Maguire has projected that, with Premier League promotion incoming, the football club will be valued at £400 million.
As for Frank Lampard, while his net worth isn't as luxurious as his boss's, he's still made a good living from his professional football career, which spanned two decades, the majority of which took place in the Premier League.
That, plus the money he's collected in his various managerial roles after his retirement, has his net worth estimated at around £75-£80 million, earning around £5 million annually throughout his time at the CBS Arena, according to Coventry Live.
The article also states that he earned £15 million throughout his time at Everton, so his current contract at Coventry isn't even the highest-earning one he's had throughout his time in management.

It's been a brilliant first full season under Lampard at Coventry, which will culminate in a Premier League return for both the club and for the 47-year-old boss. You get the feeling, too, that the Sky Blues won't be there to just make up the numbers, either.
Championship sides will have gained some confidence looking at the top flight this year, as Sunderland and, likely, Leeds United will have ended the two-year trend of the newly-promoted sides suffering immediate relegation, so the blueprint is there for them to follow.
That, plus the anticipation that will surround Coventry's return and the fact that Lampard himself will have a point to prove in the dugout after dropping to the Championship to improve himself as a manager, stands the Sky Blues in good stead to ruffle some feathers next season.
Doug King will have to use some of his wealth to help his side remain in the top flight, but if his investment results in helping the club stage a lengthy Premier League stay, you'd imagine that the club would be valued at even more than what it already is set to be, helping the businessman make even more money as and when he decides to part ways.
