Connor Roberts and captain Ben Davies have been recalled to Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad for friendlies against Ghana and Romania. Wales Online reports that the pair return after injury lay-offs.

Roberts is included for the first time in a year after an Achilles injury kept him out for the whole of last season. His last cap came in a defeat away to Belgium in June last year, and Bellamy views his tactical nous as a big help.

Davies, who missed the last two international windows, is back and will be managed carefully in terms of minutes. Bellamy highlighted his influence on and off the pitch.

Liam Cullen misses out, with Ben Cabango the only Swansea City player selected. Cardiff City supply four players, Isaak Davies, Ronan Kpakio, Dylan Lawlor and Joel Colwill, while Jordan James is absent and Chris Mepham returns. Wrexham have three call-ups, Danny Ward, Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore.

Wales host Ghana at Cardiff City Stadium on two June, then visit Bucharest to face Romania four days later. It is the first camp since Wales missed out on this summer’s World Cup, and Bellamy said attention now turns to the Nations League in the autumn. He described Ghana as tough opponents who have qualified and noted Romania’s new manager as a factor his staff have studied.
