Cristian Devenish ‘to sign’ three-year deal with FC Metz | OneFootball

FC Metz are close to signing Cristian Devenish on a three-year contract, with the Colombian centre-back expected to join from Portuguese club AVS.

AS reports that the AVS captain has arrived in Moselle, is understood to have completed a medical in recent hours, and has visited the club’s facilities including the Frescaty training centre. AVS had the worst defence in Liga Portugal and were relegated to the second tier.

Devenish would become the fourth Colombian in Metz history, following Tressor Moreno, Faryd Mondragon and, more recently, Oscar Estupinan.

Relegated to Ligue 2, Metz have been seeking cover at centre-back after the departures of Jean-Philippe Gbamin to CSKA Sofia, Sadibou Sané to Monaco and Terry Yegbe to Lech Poznan. A 1.92 m right-footer, Devenish is viewed as a robust presence whose profile is considered similar to Yegbe’s.

He is expected to finalise the move in the coming hours, subject to any late change, with his prospective team-mates playing a 17:00 friendly against RFC Seraing. Metz have already added defenders Jean Ruiz from Pau and Florian Miguel from Burgos, the latter earmarked for the left flank, and are now working on adding another midfielder.
