Cristian Romero edits Instagram post after apparent criticism of Tottenham hierarchy following 3-2 loss | OneFootball

Cristian Romero appeared to take aim at Tottenham’s hierarchy in an Instagram message after the 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth, which he later edited.

The loss on Wednesday, seven January, left Spurs 14th in the Premier League table. According to Sunderland Echo, the captain posted in the early hours.

His initial wording seemed directed at those running the club. It was unclear who he meant, whether manager Thomas Frank, executive chairman Daniel Levy or another figure within the ENIC Group. Team-mates Richarlison and Pedro Porro showed support.

In the first version Romero said others should front up in difficult moments and accused some of appearing only when things are going well “to tell a few lies”. That phrase was later removed as the post was revised.

The updated message apologised to supporters, accepted responsibility for results and urged unity. “We'll stay here, working, sticking together and giving our all to turn things around,” he wrote. “All together, it will be easier.”
