Following Al-Nassr’s important 2-0 win over Al-Ahli, which moved them closer to the Saudi League title, Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a strong criticism of the league, citing what he sees as inappropriate behaviour from several people involved.
The Portugal captain was referring mainly to the constant complaints posted on social media about refereeing decisions and to some allegedly unprofessional behaviour.
"This is not a war. After the end of the season, I will speak publicly about the negative things happening in the league. I see many worrying situations. Many players complain and post on their Instagram and Facebook accounts, criticising refereeing, the league and the project." Cristiano said.
"We fight to win, but some things are not good and this is not football. We need to stop certain attitudes if we want to compete with the biggest European leagues?"
Cristiano Ronaldo was also asked about the taunts he received from away supporters and downplayed them.
"They love me, it's not a problem. I'm used to this kind of support because I played for many years at Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester. For me, it's not a problem - I just want to see our fans happy." he concluded.
As a reminder, the forward has scored 27 goals and provided four assists in 32 matches for the Saudi side this season.
