Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to Grêmio’s Instagram post welcoming Luís Castro, leaving clapping and fire emojis on Monday, more than 24 hours after it went live.

According to Globo.com, the post was a joint message from the club and Castro announcing the coach’s arrival in Porto Alegre.

Ronaldo, a compatriot of Castro, played under the new Grêmio manager at Al-Nassr from July 2023 to September in Saudi Arabia. The pair won the Arab Champions Cup together.

At his official unveiling at the Arena, Castro was asked about leaving Botafogo to take the Saudi job in 2023 and said Ronaldo was one of the reasons.

He said he allowed himself the chance to work with a player of global reference, recalling 14-hour days in Portugal’s fourth division and feeling it was the right time to join a footballer of Ronaldo’s stature, alongside others at the club.
