Cristiano Ronaldo says he will ‘probably’ retire at the end of this season | OneFootball

Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a bombshell about his future, saying he will ‘probably’ retire at the end of the 2026-27 season. 

The 41-year-old also added he has already started planning for life after retirement. 

The Portuguese has recently married his long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez on August 11. 

Speaking to American magazine Vogue following his marriage, Ronaldo said: “This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy.”

“I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one.”

Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. 

The five-time Ballon d’Or-winner began his career with Sporting Lisbon before joining Manchester United, where he won three Premier League titles. 

He then spent nine seasons with Real Madrid, helping the Spanish giants clinch four Champions League trophies. 

The experienced forward played a pivotal role in winning two consecutive Serie A titles with Juventus before returning to United for a short spell. 

The Portugal international has been playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr since leaving the Red Devils in December 2022. 

Despite his age, Ronaldo’s individual numbers have been outstanding, scoring 123 goals in 142 appearances across all competitions. 

His wait for a major silverware with Al-Nassr ended last season when the team were crowned Saudi Pro League champions. 

Ronaldo has a year remaining on his contract with the Knight of Najd, and his comments strongly suggest he will retire at the end of his deal.
