According to L'Équipe, Cristiano Ronaldo used his Globe Soccer Awards appearance in Dubai to say he is sure he will reach 1,000 career goals if he avoids injury.

He was named Middle East Player of the Year at the ceremony, and the 40-year-old reiterated that the 1,000 mark remains one of his final big targets.

He said he wants to continue playing, whether in the Middle East or Europe, and that his aims are to win more trophies and reach that number, provided he stays fit.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is on 956 career goals, leaving 44 to hit four figures.

This season he has scored 13 times for Al-Nassr, and on Saturday he struck twice against Al-Okhdood.
