France have sent six tonnes of kit ahead of Wednesday’s 13:00 flight from Le Bourget to Boston for the World Cup. According to L'Équipe, the load includes a cryotherapy chamber, small mobile pools, massage tables and an espresso machine.

The operation began on 27 May, lorry to Brussels then air to New York with FIFA’s freight partner to ease customs. All arrived on 6 June at Bentley University, their base, and the team hotel, where eight FFF staff received it.

About 1,000 shirts, shorts and pairs of socks are in place to cover colour clashes, with a printing machine to personalise kits as round-of-32 opponents are still unknown.

Players need only bring underwear and toiletries, the 70-seat plane has limited hold and the kit staff handle boots. They will travel in civvies, change into official tracksuits, and consoles go too, including a first-generation PlayStation carried by Jules Koundé.

The hotel and training centre are decorated with US-made items to cut freight. Food will be sourced locally bar a few condiments, with menus already discussed between the hotel’s French chef and the team cook.

Bandages and massage creams went by freight, but medicines fly with the medical staff on Wednesday to avoid customs issues. Technical kit includes foot-tennis gear, and a handball goal was sourced locally by team manager Philippe Brocherieux, ready at the university for Mike Maignan.
