Hammers star remains a doubt to face his former club

West Ham star Crysencio Summerville remains at doubt to face former club Leeds in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The winger has been progressing well and is back in training, but will require a late fitness test before a decision is made on his involvement on Sunday.

"We’re all trying to get [Summerville] back as soon as possible," Nuno Espirito Santo told reporters on Friday. "We’re assessing him day by day, and seeing how he improves.

"We aren’t at the point [of making a decision] yet. There’s still one day to go, and then we’ll make decisions.

"We’re assessing all the players, especially some after the international break. Many of them achieved big things, while some of them weren’t so happy, but we’re proud that so many of them went away."

A first FA Cup semi-final in 20 years and a trip to Wembley could lift the spirits of a fanbase desperately hoping their side will find a way to survive relegation from the Premier League, with seven games remaining to plot their escape from the drop zone.

Nuno remains focused on Sunday's immediate task and said: "We have to play the game. You keep insisting and telling me what is ahead. Let's play the game.

"It's going to be a tough one. Leeds is a good team, they have their own ambitions, so it's going to be a very, very intense game."

The sense of occasion, and what a win could mean for the club's supporters, is not lost on Nuno.

He added: "Let's prepare it. We know what it means for our fans. It's in the London Stadium, it's been great for us to play at home.

"We expect support. We know it's a big night. Let's enjoy it and play it."
