Crystal Palace have decided against pursuing a move for Evann Guessand, according to The Athletic.

The Eagles had a £28 million option to make his loan move from Aston Villa permanent but decided against it.

Palace also opted against working to sign the Ivory Coast international through a different agreement than the one in the loan deal.

Crystal Palace took Guessand on loan for six months, but he scored just two goals.

He failed to show the dynamism that made him a feared forward in France and is on the market this summer.

Who should Palace sign to replace Guessand?

With Guessand moving on, Palace should target a young right-sided attacker capable of pushing Ismaila Sarr for a starting place.

Brennan Johnson has also struggled, and the club needs to move him on before getting a replacement.

Barcelona’s Roony Bardghji is an option. The highly rated Swedish winger is blessed with excellent close control, creativity and an eye for goal.

He could benefit from regular Premier League football, making a season-long loan an attractive solution for both clubs.

Paris Saint-Germain teenage sensation Ibrahim Mbaye could be another target. He is reportedly on his way out of the French club in search of playing time.

The Senegalese ace is regarded as one of the club’s brightest academy products, possessing pace, direct dribbling and confidence in one-on-one situations.

He is already an exciting international and comes from an academy renowned for producing top footballers, such as Christopher Nkunku, Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot.
