Crystal Palace have enquired about Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, amid uncertainty over the future of Liverpool target Marc Guehi.
Palace have yet to submit an official bid for Akanji, who was not included in the City squad for their defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.
But the Eagles have shown an interest in the 30-year-old as they lined up potential replacements for Guehi.
Palace, who sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal last week, would prefer to sell Guehi this summer as they do not want to risk losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer. But they have yet to receive an official offer for their captain.

Guehi is happy to stay at Palace and leave on a free transfer after the World Cup.
Regardless of Guehi’s situation, Palace are keen to bolster their squad after manager Oliver Glasner made a passionate plea for more signings last week.
Reports state Palace are readying a £15million bid for Akanji, who endured an injury-hit season at City last year.
They have also shown interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher on loan with an option to buy.
It has been a difficult summer for Palace, who have so far only managed to bring in goalkeeper Walter Benitez and left-back Borna Sosa.
Glasner has been clear that he needs more players before the window closes.
