Crystal Palace midfielder Shanade Hopcroft has signed a new contract with the club.

The Eagles announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 27-year-old was set to be out of contract this summer but Crystal Palace have confirmed that the player is remaining at Selhurst Park for the ‘short-term’. The actual length of Hopcroft’s new deal has been left undisclosed by the South Londoners.

Crystal Palace signed Hopcroft in summer 2023 after the player opted to leave the club’s city rivals London City Lionesses. The midfielder starred in her first campaign with The Eagles. She made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals as Crystal Palace won the Barclays WSL2 title, along with a first promotion to the top tier. Hopcroft was named the Women’s Players’ Player of the Season for the 2023/2024 campaign.

Hopcroft and Crystal Palace’s stay in the Barclays Women’s Super League lasted just one season. The midfielder will now help the South Londoners in their quest to secure an immediate return to the top flight this season.

Crystal Palace are set to kick-off the new Barclays WSL2 season at Charlton Athletic on Sunday. The Eagles are amongst the favourites to challenge for promotion this term.
