Crystal Palace FC are one of several Premier League sides interested in making a move for Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret (24), according to a report this Thursday from Foot Mercato. The 24-year-old Olympique Lyonnais Academy graduate is expected to leave his formative side after falling out of favor at Pierre Sage’s Lyon. Caqueret only featured 14 times this season and only started eight games. The former U21 France international had a rare outing in midfield for Lyon in their Coupe de France opener against Feignies-Aulnoye, but he was hooked at half-time.

Caqueret is currently working his way back to match fitness with Sage adding that he would resume collective training next week. The outlet understands that Crystal Palace – in which Lyon owner John Textor retains a minority share – would be ready to offer Caqueret a five-year contract and submit a €20m bid to their Ligue 1 counterparts. The Eagles are reportedly not the only Premier League teams to monitor Caqueret. The latter reportedly turned down a move to Everton last summer.

Lyon are desperate to offload players this winter transfer window given they were handed a provisional Ligue 2 relegation. Anthony Lopes (34) already terminated his Lyon contract to join Nantes. Lyon winger Jeffinho (25) has been sold back to Botafogo and out-of-favour centre-forward Gift Orban (22) is expected to join Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in a €12m deal.
