Jose Manuel Uribes, the president of the Higher Sports Council of Spain (CSD), addressed the ongoing conflict involving Dani Olmo’s registration, which has caused tensions between Barcelona, La Liga, and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Having seen Olmo as well Pau Victor get de-registered at the end of 2024, Barça had to turn to the CSD to re-register the pair in January after La Liga deemed that the club were late in sending in the documents of the Camp Nou VIP seats sale which boosted their salary cap.
The Blaugrana obtained a precautionary measure from the CSD to keep Olmo and Victor registered, at least until April 7, when the governing body is supposed to make a final decision on the conflict.
Speaking at a media appearance earlier today, Uribes, the president of CSD gave his two cents regarding the entire situation, explaining why they were in favour of granting a precautionary measure in January.
“We need to resolve the conflict between Barcelona, La Liga, and the Federation,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“I decided we had to grant the precautionary measure because Barcelona believe that RFEF and La Liga didn’t make the right decision, and we applied the principle that it’s better to avoid harm,” Uribes explained.
“It made more sense for him to be able to play. The alternative was for him to remain in a state of uncertainty while the conflict was being resolved, and he is a player for the Spanish national team,” the CSD president added.
Uribes also acknowledged Real Madrid’s respectful response to the decision to allow Olmo to play in the Spanish Super Cup final while also revealing that Spain manager Luis de la Fuente had thanked him.
“I’m grateful that Real Madrid respected our decision, and Dani Olmo played. Luis de la Fuente thanked me because we prioritized the general interest — it’s important to protect the careers of footballers,” he concluded.
