Cuéllar seeks R$ 15 million from Grêmio after exit | OneFootball

Gustavo Cuéllar is seeking R$ 15 million from Grêmio over his contract termination after an acrimonious spell at the club.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Grêmio ended his deal in February this year, citing a lack of daily application and commitment to training.

Signed in 2025, the Colombian midfielder made only 29 appearances. With the sum still unpaid, he has issued an extrajudicial notice to the club.

After leaving, the 33-year-old returned to Colombia and now plays for Deportivo Cali (COL), who sit ninth in the Colombian championship.

Cuéllar also left Flamengo amid friction. A regular under Jorge Jesus until the 2019 Libertadores quarter-finals, he asked the club to accept an offer from Al Hilal (SAU).

Flamengo tried to keep him due to his importance, but efforts failed, which irritated the board at the time. He played four seasons from 2016 to 2019, scoring two goals and supplying three assists in 167 games. His honours include the 2019 Libertadores and Brasileirão, plus two Carioca titles.

Grêmio host Flamengo on Sunday 10 at Arena do Grêmio, with kick-off at 19:30 Brasília time, in the 15th round of the Brasileirão.
