Daizen Maeda appears to shut down January Celtic exit claims

Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda appears to have shut down rumours that he may be set to leave the club in January. The Japanese star was heavily linked with a transfer in the summer but Celtic were unable to get targets brought into the club, meaning that no deal was forthcoming for the 2024/25 Player of the Year. The player spoke in September about having emptied his locker at Lennoxtown and wishing to make his next move.
There had been a suggestion that a number of Premier League and Bundesliga sides would capitalise on the situation and mount a move in January. Although, with the World Cup next summer, Maeda appears to be focusing on Celtic despite the exit rumours.
Speaking to Soccer King, Maeda confirmed that he would be looking to regain his form with Celtic ahead of the World Cup.
“We have three to four months off from now, so playing with my team will be extremely important.
“I’m not just saying that to myself, but I think everyone feels the same way. I hope to return to my team, continue to play well, and be able to return in March.”

Maeda appears to have regained some of his spark after Martin O’Neill returned to the club on an interim basis. There is likely to be a third permanent manager in place in the next few weeks.
