Brasil de Pelotas meet Inter at Bento Freitas on Wednesday from 20:00 in the 2026 Recopa Gaúcha final. Inter, 2025 state champions, chase a third crown. Xavante, last year’s Copa FGF winners, seek a first.

The match will be shown live on ge.globo and on GZH’s YouTube channel. Globo.com notes the competition began in 2014, first pitting Gauchão winners against Super Copa Gaúcha holders, then state champions versus Copa FGF winners, renamed last year as Copa Professor Ruy Carlos Ostermann.

Grêmio top the roll with five titles. Inter and Pelotas have two apiece, in 2016 and 2017 for Inter, and 2014 and 2020 for Pelotas. Lajeadense, São José and São Luiz won in 2015, 2018 and 2024.

Among the subplots, D'Alessandro’s first farewell came in the 2016 decider, his last Inter game before a loan to River Plate. He returned in 2017, stayed until 2020, had a 2021 loan to Nacional, then came back in 2022 to retire.

The 2023 edition brought Luís Suárez’s Grêmio debut. Before almost 50,000 Grêmio fans at the Arena, he hit a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over São Luiz de Ijuí.

He spent one season, also winning the Gauchão and helping Grêmio finish runners-up in the Brasileirão. His tally was 27 goals and 17 assists in 53 games.

Only once, in 2018, did the final lack the Gre-Nal pair, when São José beat Novo Hamburgo. Pelotas won the inaugural 2014 match at Boca do Lobo, beating Inter 3-2 with Inter fielding an under-23 side.
