Atalanta director Tony D’Amico insists reports of Milan approaches or Gian Piero Gasperini’s future are ‘not worth commenting on’ ahead of today’s meeting with Lazio. ‘The Scudetto was an impossible dream.’
It kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

Fighting for the top of the table only a few weeks ago, La Dea are now anxiously looking over their shoulders to keep hold of third place after back-to-back defeats to Inter and Fiorentina.

“We are super concentrated, we know there are eight very important games, and this evening will be difficult, but we face these opponents with the same attitude as always,” D’Amico told Sky Sport Italia.
Is it not possible that the defeat to Inter knocked the wind out of Atalanta’s sails when it meant they were no longer in the running for the Serie A title?
“A bit of a wobble is natural, our optimism comes from watching the coach and his lads work in training with such hunger and determination every single day. The Scudetto was an impossible dream, we were always fully concentrated and knew where we wanted to end up, so we hope to get there.”
A documentary about Atalanta’s remarkable season culminating in the Europa League triumph had its premiere this week and is getting a limited release in Italian cinemas.
However, their future remains in doubt, because Gasperini hinted he will not sign a new contract, while D’Amico himself has been linked with the director of sport role at Milan for next season.
“These are just rumours and are not worth commenting on, otherwise we’d never stop talking about every story out there. We are fully focused on Atalanta and achieving our targets,” concluded D’Amico.
