Servigroup Peñíscola v Noia Portus Apostoli FS descended into one of Spanish futsal’s darkest episodes, as a mass brawl erupted after Noia’s 1-6 win on matchday 18. Footage spread widely across the country.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, ill feeling had lingered from the 1 November meeting in Galicia, which ended in a major melee and police intervention. On Tuesday, those tensions boiled over after the final whistle.
The contest was fractious, especially after Elías was sent off late in the first half for kicking Ismael, a flashpoint that stoked tempers.
After the handshake, Diego Sancho and Tiago Manuel Macedo Rodrigues pushed each other, triggering punches and kicks. The referee’s report details that Macedo kicked Sancho, then Giovanni Miguel González Vázquez jumped in, aiming a kick and making contact with his hands. One pitch invader landed a punch on Macedo, later Juan José Moreno López hit him several times and Macedo struck back, Juan Carlos Sánchez punched two visiting players, and a second invader launched a kick towards a visiting team member.
Sánchez and Macedo Rodrigues were sent off amid the chaos. Security staff, the Guardia Civil and police moved in to restore order. The RFEF’s single futsal disciplinary judge is expected to issue significant sanctions on Thursday.
