Burkinabe forward arrives after a strong goalscoring haul last term
The winger arrives at the Gtech Community Stadium after the departure of forward Bryan Mbeumo, who joined Manchester United earlier in the transfer window.
Standard Sport understands that the Bees have paid out a club-record transfer fee worth £42.5million for the Burkina Faso international, who has penned a five-year deal in west London.
Ouattara played 37 times in all competitions for the Cherries last term, scoring nine goals. That included a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest, as he began to fill in as a centre-forward in Evanlison’s absence.
Brentford head coach Keith Andrews identified Ouattara’s Premier League experience as a key reason for signing him.
“We’re really happy to get Dango in,” Andrews said.
“He is someone that we were aware and surprised could be available and, once we knew that signing him might be a possibility, we really focused on trying to get him in.
“We liked his Premier League experience, even at his young age, and he just hasn’t found the rhythm yet because of a lack of consistent game time.
“He also suits the way we want to play - he has something that we were lacking in the forward line, and he will complement what we already have in the building.
“The fans will love him; he’s the type of player that they will get off their seat for.”
The Bees’ director of football Phil Giles admitted that the club had been in the market for a replacement for Mbeumo, and he labelled Ouattara as an “extremely strong” option.
“Having sold Bryan Mbeumo, we have been looking to add an attacking player to the squad, and we think Dango is the perfect addition,” Giles said.
“It has been well documented that there has been more change over this summer than in recent years at the club; however, I am very confident that, in each case where a player has left us, we have managed to bring in an extremely strong replacement, and Dango is the latest example of that.
“I am really excited to see Dango on the pitch and bringing his unique skillset to the team.”
