Daniel Banjaqui, who turned 18 on Tuesday 24 March, has rejected offers from nine European heavyweights to remain at Benfica. He has agreed a contract until 2031 with a release clause set at 80 million euros.
According to Glorioso 1904, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Crystal Palace made approaches, as did Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich and Napoli. PSG only gathered information on the player.
Banjaqui believes Benfica offers the best place to keep improving, and he admires head coach José Mourinho. The formal signing is expected after his return from Under-21 duty, with Euro 2027 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Scotland.
The young full-back will receive improved terms and will have the opportunity to join the first-team squad in 2026/27. The decision strengthens Benfica’s commitment to developing domestic talent and ensures he has space to grow.
This season for Benfica, Banjaqui, valued at 5 million euros, has played 27 matches, 14 in Liga Portugal Meu Super, seven in the UEFA Youth League, three in Liga Revelação, two in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,837 minutes, he has one goal and five assists.
